"The waters returned and covered the chariots and the horsemen; of all the host of Pharaoh that had followed them into the sea, not one of them remained. But the people of Israel walked on dry ground through the sea, the waters being a wall to them on their right hand and on their left.
Thus the Lord saved Israel that day from the hand of the Egyptians, and Israel saw the Egyptians dead on the seashore. Israel saw the great power that the Lord used against the Egyptians, so the people feared the Lord, and they believed in the Lord and in his servant Moses." (Exodus 14:28-31 ESV)
In the second book of the bible there is this guy named Moses who was chosen by God to carry out multiple tasks. He wasn't particularly special and was even born into a race that at the time was being persecuted. He was adopted, grew up and ran away from home, only to be lost in the desert and found by a tribe who took him in, fed him and clothed him.
Eventually, God told him he would have to go back to the land he ran away from and seek permission from Pharaoh for his original family to be freed. Moses didn't understand why he was chosen, because he knew he wasn't a great speaker. He would get nervous and stutter when he spoke in front of others. But God pushed him to do it anyway and gave him a friend, Aaron, who would speak for him.
Through many tries and fails of Moses and Aaron trying to get Pharaoh to "let His people go" God softened Pharaoh's heart just long enough for Moses' family to escape. After the people left, Pharaoh's heart was hardened again and he chased after them.
Chapter 14 is about how God used this time of trail and uncertainty in the people's lives to prove how much He loved them and to show them His power. He physically parted the Red Sea for His people to walk on and then sent the waters crashing back down behind them to kill their enemies.
I wanted to make a sticker representing this story because over the past several months my world has been quite confusing. In a time of questioning the Lord's will for my life, I was able to read this and be reminded of His unending love. I was reminded of how easily God works out some of our worst fears and moments for His good and ours. I was taken aback by verse 14:
"The Lord will fight for you, and you have only to be silent."
My hope is for this sticker to serve as a reminder of the unwavering power of God and His unending love for you.
